Michigan at OyMap.com - A world directory of sites by actual location instead of server location.
Searching and Information
Google, maybe you've heard of it? ;-)
Wikipedia is the first place I go to find out about a topic. The information is both comprehensive and deep. Probably one of the most important web sites online today!
The Free Dictionary, the name pretty much says it all.
The Internet Storm Center provides a free analysis and warning service to thousands of Internet users and organizations, and is actively working with Internet Service Providers to fight back against the most malicious attackers.
TI-99/4A
The TI-99/4A Home Computer is near and dear to me, being that it was the first computer I ever had way back in 1993.
Mainbyte is a great TI site and an excellent source for pictures, projects, and information. The site also covers the TS 1000, TRS 80 PC-4, and VIC-20.
99er .com .net and .org has a lot of great TI information, downloads, and a forum.
The Win994a Simulator is graciously hosted at 99er.net, and is an excellent way to experience the TI-99/4A from you Windows based PC.
The TI-99/4A Yahoo! Group is an excellent place to talk about all things TI and connect with other TIers.
The TI Tech Pages site is an excellent source for technical information and projects for the TI. Thierry Nouspikel is incredibly knowledgeable and has created some awesome hardware (including an IDE controller) and software (including a multitasking kernel) for our beloved machine.
Western Horizon FTP Site is the primary archinve for TI and Geneve software, with CD and DVD sets available.
Bill Gaskill's TI Timeline is the place for details about the history of the TI.
The TI-99/4A Game Shelf is an attempt to provide a gallery of mostly public domain, non-cartridge games for the TI. Included are screenshots and a brief overview. Well worth checking out!
Computers, Programming, Operating Systems
FreeBSD is an advanced operating system for x86 compatible (including Pentium and Athlon), amd64 compatible (including Opteron, Athlon 64, and EM64T), UltraSPARC, IA-64, PC-98 and ARM architectures. It is derived from BSD, the version of UNIX developed at the University of California, Berkeley. It is developed and maintained by a large team of individuals.
Computer History Museum is dedicated to preserving the artifacts and stories of the information age.
Indie Gamer Forum is an excellent place for any independent programmer or small gaming company. The conversations are high quality and the members are those who are making a living writing and selling games.
Gamedev is a good source of information, papers, and resources for anyone wanting to write video games. There are also forums, but they suffer from so much activity that it is hard to have a constructive conversation. There is also a lot of "I'm going to make the next killer game, who wants to help..." kind of posts. I recommend the Indie Gamer Forum over Gamedev's forums.
PHP is a mature, widely-used, general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML.
Retro Remakes is a site dedicated to the remaking of classic (8-bit, 16-bit, and pre-1993) games. They have an annual remake competition that kicks off about June, as well as a very active forum, downloads, and information. If you are into classic games, you must visit this site!

Yours for free!
MenuetOS is a hobby Operating System for the PC written entirely in 64bit assembly language, and released under license. It supports 64 and 32 bit x86 assembly programming for smaller, faster and less resource hungry applications. It is very cool, fits on a single floppy and you can check it out without touching your existing hard drive!
BumpTop is a prototype desktop metaphore based on the ideas of Piles, Physics, and a Pen. It is very cool, check it out! Unfortunately, at this time, only a demo video and white papers are available for most of us.
Mazes, Adventures, and other Gaming Stuff
QML, the Quest Markup Language, is a free XML-based Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game system by. Adventures can have images, sound, states to check, random events and much more.
Think Labyrinth provides information on all kinds of maze types and algorithms, as well as free software for exploring maze generation.
Graphics and Sound
I have always had a love of computer graphics and sound, so why I became a business database developer is beyond me. When I have a little spare time, these are some of the programs and sites I use/visit related to graphics and sound.
Realsoft (used to be Real|3D) is an excellent full-featured 3D modeling, rendering, and animation program. It started life on the Amiga back in the early 1990's and was ported to Windows and Unix when the Amiga had its unfortunate downfall.
Paint Shop Pro (previously made by Jasc but bought by Corel) is an excellent alternative to Photoshop. Acutally, if you want to *create* graphics then almost anything is better than Photoshop! I can't say enough good about PSP, so you'll have to check it out for your self, and the price is right for the rest of us.
Corel DRAW, an Adobe Illustrator alternative, is an excellent layout and structured drawing suite. I've been using it since the mid 1990's and find it very easy to use and intuitive.
Electronics and Science
Magic 1 is a home built minicomputer that instead of using a commercially available CPU, it has a custom build CPU made out of discrete 74-series TTL chips! Projects like this really appeal to me, and one day soon I hope to start a CPU of my own.
Electronic Lives Mfg. is an electronics enthusiasts site and the projects this guy does are nothing short of amazing! For example the Home Built Laser Projector... Very cool stuff!
